I didn't know Ms. Colvin's work when I set out to do this art, but a friend lent me an album and it occurred to me that almost all of her songs are about the girl trying to get out of the small town and make it in the big city. Hence the grownup Dorothy shucking the life of the Kansas cornfields and hitchin' it back to the only high-life she had ever known . . . The Emerald City.
